Tshering Dorji

Birding & Cultural Guide

Tshering Dorji is a full-time staff member of Wild Nature Quest who has spent several years exploring and studying birds and nature throughout Bhutan after graduating from high school. Under the guidance and training of Mr. Norbu

Tshering received four and a half years of education and became a knowledgeable birder who is familiar with the calls, behaviors, distributions, and habitats of Bhutan’s bird species. In 2018, on the occasion of World Ranger Day, the Forestry Department and the Ugyen Wangchuk Institute for Conservation and Environment organized the first-ever citizen birder meeting. Tshering was nominated by the Guide Association of Bhutan (GAB) to represent the guides and present on life as a birding guide. His presentation was well-received by audiences, including the Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forest.

Amidst the pandemic when the tourism industry was at a standstill, Tshering seized the opportunity to enhance his skills by enrolling in an advanced nature guide course offered by the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute of Conservation and Environment. His performance in the course was highly appreciated by both the instructors and the management. Tshering’s dedication to self-improvement and keeping up with the latest knowledge and techniques in his field is a testament to his commitment to providing the best possible experience to his clients. With his newfound expertise, he can now offer a more nuanced and informed perspective to his nature tours.

The passion that drives us

As a passionate bird-watching specialist in Bhutan, I combine my deep love for nature with professional expertise to offer unforgettable bird-watching experiences. With years of experience guiding bird enthusiasts through Bhutan’s rich biodiversity and pristine landscapes, I take pride in sharing my knowledge of the region’s unique avian species. My dedication to safari and bird-watching stems from a lifelong fascination with wildlife, and I strive to make each tour both educational and awe-inspiring. For me, guiding is more than a job—it’s a chance to connect others with the beauty of Bhutan’s natural treasures.
