Protected Areas in Bhutan

At Wild Nature Quest, we are committed to providing unique and informative experiences for our guests, including opportunities to witness Bhutan’s diverse and protected wildlife.

As the country modernizes and opens up to the world, Bhutan has taken significant measures to preserve its rich biodiversity. In 1993, the wildlife protection zones along the northern and southern borders were expanded and upgraded to a complete system of protected areas, covering 26% of the country. These protected areas play a crucial role in the conservation of Bhutan’s avifauna, including various globally threatened species.
